Childrens Bible Society - Operation Light
Categories: Family, Prison Ministry
Operation Light is an outreach of Childrens Bible Society to the children of Inmates. Many wonderful ministries presently reach out to those in correctional facilities but few minister to the kids they leave behind. We will do this by supplying inmates with a simple form they fill-out and send to us. We will then include their personal letter along with a Bible story coloring book and mail it to their child, grandchild, niece, or nephew. Our books are beautifully illustrated by ex-Disney artist Norman McGary, and they tell stories of the Bible and have several scripture word searches that will engage older children and adults. Each book ends with a simple gospel message and an invitation to know Jesus personally.
If you are a chaplain, or have access to inmates please contact us to discuss outreach opportunities.

Christian Literacy Associates
Categories: Prison Ministry
Christian Literacy Associates has designed training material to enable an adult to reach a functional literacy level (approximately 6th grade)with the assistance of a non-professional volunteer tutor. The Christian Literacy Series Complete Set begins with the alphabet, teaches the 40 most common English words in context, and provides drills and stories, both secular and Bible-content, to present sound and symbol relationships. This One-on-one reading tutoring provides literate Christians with a wonderful opportunity to share their faith.
All of our materials and techniques are professionally designed for use by non-professionals; anyone who can read well and has the patience and desire to help someone else can use our materials to teach a child or an adult how to read. Because the materials are based on an easy to use sample lesson format, volunteers can effectively be trained as tutors during a single four-hour workshop.

Pure Life Ministries - Prison Outreach
Categories: Family, Prison Ministry
Pure Life Ministries is here to serve incarcerated men and women attempting to live the Christian life and struggling with sexual sin.
Resources for Chaplains and Volunteers
It is the heart of Pure Life Ministries (PLM) that incarcerated men and women struggling with sexual sin receive the spiritual help they need. For this reason we provide chaplains and prison/jail ministry volunteers with FREE copies of our most pertinent books which minister to inmate needs. Please contact us (and indicate prison ministry inquiry) to make a request for materials and be sure to include a contact phone number.
At present, we offer help in the following ways:
We have learned that the best way to reach inmates in need is to supply materials to those work directly with them so they can also follow up with personal ministry. To date we have donated over 20,000 copies of At the Altar of Sexual Idolatry to prisons and jails free of charge.
We do send materials directly to inmates that are purchased on their behalf from our website. It is important that buyers verify before ordering that the applicable institution allows book and materials orders shipped directly to inmates.
Finally, materials can be purchased for a substantially reduced price directly by inmates. Chaplains and prison/jail ministry volunteers can obtain special order forms for this purpose via our contact form.
